A crucial event in the History of Texas !
There were many reasons for this action, please refer to "The Alamo" section "The Declaration of Causes"
Shortly before dawn Juan Seguin and his volunteers attacked Gen. Cos' army which was stationed behind the breastworks on the Main Plaza in San Antonio. Ben Milam and his volunteers had attacked Cos's troops at the
Alamo. It was a battle that was fought from house to house.
On the 9th of December a white flag was raised by Gen. Cos at which time he surrended and signed an agreement
which gave Texans all public lands, arms, ammunitions and monies in San Antonio and also agreed to furlough his
army upon withdrawing to the Rio Grande.
The Native born Texans along with new comers and then Mexican Citizens, "Texicans", were forced into a decision about their future in Texas - - - - - Their Action became an irrevocable decision for independence.
It brought about a raging anger in President Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna and he moved along with his armies to
retake San Antonio and Texas. Little did he relize that this "small insurrection" would forever change the distiny
of two countries and of the world.
Following is Captain Juan N. Seguin's certified list of individuals who formed the volunteer company of the Bexar Municipality.
