Brief Message from the Founder

A Message from Albert

There's not much I can add to what Aunt Julia stated. See Presidents Message 2001. It truly does the heart good to see so many people interested in their ancestors. Not to mention meeting new family members at the different functions other than funerals and weddings.
Gosh, have you thought about it - we will some day be someone's ancestor.

We could not get an exact count of the number of family members that attended the "Multi-Function" 2001 reunion. As most of you know, we first meet at Juan Seguins grave site to pay our respects and have a short "Celebration of Life" informal ceremony. Then with a police escort we caravaned over to the Seguin Central Park for the family panoramic photo and to commemorate the 1st anniversary of the Statue. That really was exciting to see so many family members together, talking and sharing memories. We then headed for Nolte Island, again in caravan form with police escort, where the actual reunion and family picnic was held.

Getting back to the actual count, we have estimated around 300 persons attended but not all at the same time. On our way from the burial site we lost several cars and numerous people and they did not make it to the Park and then traveling from the park to Nolte Island we lost more people and some others showed up that had been at the grave site but not at the park, so on and so on.

However, we did have 279 family members to register. That's not a bad turn out. We have learned several things:
1. We will not do the "Multi Function" reunion again in one day; perhaps in the future we can have the Grave Site Ceremony and Park Event on one day and have the reunion on the next. NOTE: no date has been set for the next family reunion.

2. We will keep the number of door prizes down to a more manageable and less time consuming amount. We missed not having the time to roam around and talk to everyone and that is truly the point of the reunion and not the door prizes.

As Aunt Julia said, God heard our prayers and gave us a beautiful day for the entire day.

I want to extend a "Very Special Thank You" to each and everyone who made the "Special Effort" to attend and join in the great family fun and exchange memories of days gone bye, to share the present and to dream of the future together, what a great day, what a great family, what a great country!

The Following was e-mailed to us by our cousin Larry Garcia. He is Uncle Greg's and Aunt Vera's Grandson,
it was written by Emily Matthers:

For he wanted His children to learn to be strong,
And not become frightened if things, should go wrong,
So He placed in each heart a desire to belong
Somewhere they felt needed, yet free...
Then He added acceptance and patience and trust,
Love that was selfless and caring and just,
Where questions were welcomed and laughter a must....
And he called His great gift "Family".

I do not want to be repetitious so please look at page titled, "Descendants of Juan N. Seguin Reunion".
An account recorded by Colonel Davy Crockett himself, aka, Bill Rush.
Included are several photo gallaries with photos submitted by Cousin Pal Paul Casanova Garcia, Maria Alvarado and
Shriley T. Rush.

PLEASE do plan on attending
The 13th Annual Celebration of Life at
The Juan Seguin Burial Site on October 26, 2002

Again Thanks ever so much for your support of family ties, God Bless.
