The Statue

The "Seguin Family Historical Society" is proud to present an Erik Christianson original; an authentic miniature replica in bronze of the "Juan Nepomuceno Seguin Memorial". This work of art will be an everlasting tribute to Col. Juan N. Seguin and his pivotal role in winning Freedom and Independence for Texas in 1836.

The Bronze Casting

A 500 limited edition miniature bronze has been created by sculptor Erik Christianson. It is authentically detailed to replicate the "Juan Nepomuceno Seguin Memorial" located in the town that bears his name. The sculpture is 5 3/4'' high, weighing 2 1/2 pounds. It is mounted on a revolving black walnut hardwood base. No two sculptures are exactly alike because each individual statue is hand worked, signed, dated, and numbered by the artist and will increase in value as time goes on.

About the Artist

Over the years Erik has received many important commissions from such prestigious organizations as the United States Horse Cavalry, The Vaqueros Association, The First Cavalry Division, The United States Naval Academy, The Don & Linda Carter Community Spirit Award for the Dallas Mavericks basketball team,The U.S. Air Force Academy and The Brooks Army Medical Center.

He completed a life-size of "Our Lady of Guadalupe" and Juan Diego for the New Mexican American Cultural Center in downtown San Antonio. His most recent project was the monumental bronze of "Col. Juan Seguin"for the city of Seguin now located in Seguin Central Park.

Erik has studied every aspect of bronze sculpture, from concept to casting. He has over thirteen years experience working in a foundry in Texas, learning what few schools could teach. In additionto his skill as a sculptor, he is a master at fabricating molds, chasing wax positives, casting, welding, finishing bronze, and the patination process. His work had entailed solving anatomical problems, constructingsteel armatures, and "pointing up" many larger-than-life size sculptures.Christianson's work reflects his deep interest in creating historically accurate figures while breathing life into his work.

Those who have seen his creations agree that he has succeeded on both accounts.Erik lives on a hillside in scenic Texas Hill Country near Honey Creek with his wife, Elena, who is also a fine artist, and teaches art for the NBISD. He looks forward to spending many years doing what he loves best…sculpting.

This is a very special project that has been in the development stage since the unveiling of the larger than life size statue of the Colonel in October 2000.

Erik has once again created a piece of sculpture that will grace your home or office and/or as a gift to those special to you.

An original sculpture that is signed and numbered that will certainly appreciate in value.
