Juan Seguin 225 Highway

"Juan N. Seguin Road to History"

The "Juan N. Seguin Boulevard", park road 1836 is the road that leads directly to the location where
Juan N. Seguin, and his Tejano army joined forces with Sam Houston to defeat Santa Anna's army at
The Battle of San Jacinto, the decisive battle where Texas won its' independence.

The Seguin Family Historical Society in conjunction with several Cities, State and County Representatives, numerous private citizens, and various organizations diligently worked in a team effort to establish the
"Juan N. Seguin Memorial Interchange",
located at the interchange of the Loop 610 and Highway 225 in Houston, Texas.

State Representative Rick Noriega, sponsored House Bill No. 3460 and Senator Mario Gallegos, Jr., sponsored Senate Bill No. 1831 which made this historic recognition possible.

Senate Bill No. 1831 was signed in the Texas House and Senate and sent to Governor Rick Perry on May 24, 2001. Governor Rick Perry signed the Bill on June 13, 2001 and became effect as of that date.
The State Representative and Senator, The Mayors of the Cities of Houston, Pasadena, Deer Park , and La Porte are to be congratulated for their assistance and far sightedness in this historic endeavor.

There were many persons from varied walks of life involved; support was gathered from many sources and through countless avenues. It would not be honest, nor fair, to say that any one person or persons, group or groups of people were responsible for this historic achievement or to even venture to think to take credit for an endeavor that could not have been accomplished had it not been for everyone working together as a team to make a dream and goal a reality.

It is only through the Grace of God that we, all of us, accomplished what recognition we have to honor a True Texas Legend, Juan N. Seguin may he rest in peace and smile upon us all.

It is important to remember that although Juan Seguin was born and reared in San Antonio, his business trips carried him from San Antonio to such far away places as Nacogdoches, Galveston, New Orleans, Mexico City and other exotice places where he conducted farming, ranching and real estate business.

The paths of war in the cause for Texas Independence carried him from
San Antonio, the Rio Grande, to Goliad to Houston and eventually to the San Jacinto battlefield.

Viva Seguin! A true Texas Patriot, Viva Tejas!
