Disney's Alamo Movie 2004

It was an honor for me to be invited by Disney Studio to be part of, The World Premier of Disney's, "The Alamo".
The Premier took place in San Antonio at the historic Majestic Theatre and in the most appropriate city...... San Antonio, Texas ----- of course!

It's my opinion that a documentary was first written and then emblished with bits of legend and lore, action, humor and music to make it more appealing to the general public.

It is by far the most historically correct account of those days filled with turmoil, determined and dicated men on both sides, many with their own ideas of what the future was to bring and their place in history.

This Alamo movie is certainly destined to be a movie classic for all times!

A press release by J.B. KLine to The Battle Report Newsletter:

On March 27, 2004, a descendant, of the Texas War for Independence hero, Col. Juan N. Seguin, represented The Seguin Family Historical Society at the World Premiere and Gala of Disney's new epic film, The Alamo.

Albert Seguin Gonzales of Texas City is the 3rd Great Grandson of Col. Seguin.  "This is a movie that all Texas History Teachers, History buffs and movie lovers alike should view."  Albert proudly states. "It is by far the most historically correct account of the events that unfolded during those days of conflict, turmoil and the future uncertainty of Texas itself."

He further states, "I will not give it away, but I will say that one must remember that our esteemed Texas heroes were by no stretch of the imagination, Gods, but men of vision with their own agendas and life styles. All the actors were very believable in their respective roles. Dennis Quaid/Gen. Sam Houston, Emilio Echevarria/Gen. Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna, Billy Bob Thornton/ Davy Crockett, Jordi Molla/Capt. Juan N. Seguin, Jason Patric/James Bowie, and Patrick Wilson/Col. William B. Travis.  Of course I was more interested in how our ancestor was portrayed, but I must say that Billy Bob and Emilo deserve academy recognition."

Albert adds, "This version clearly sets the record straight that the war for independence was not a war between Mexicans and Anglos.  There were many Hispanics that fought, not against their own country men, but for their right to self government, much like the war for American independence, where brother fought against brother for their right to self determination."

"Juan Seguin is a true Texas legend and his story is yet to be told",  he states, "and as for the portrayal of the Spanish Texas born Seguin, Spanish actor Jordi Molla, does very a very impressive job of representing Seguin and the other Tejanos that also joined the Texas cause for their Texas homeland independence."

"John Wayne was and is one of my favorite all time actors.  His film the Alamo was filled with excitement, action and passion but it lacked severely in telling the true story of Texas.  This Alamo movie will set many records straight about Texas, the Alamo, and our Texas heroes and I know that a long forgotten Texas born hero, Juan Seguin, will be rediscovered by educators and by the general public."

The entire production from the organization of the event, the movie, security at the gala and even the 1700 feet of Yellow carpet that extended from the Majestic Theater to the Alamo grounds was all very, very impressive, a true Texan Event!
